New Delhi: Day 5 of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow is upon us. The Indian contingent will be looking to continue their good showing from Day 4 and add more medals to the tally. India is currently placed 5th on the table with 6 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Indian weightlifter Satish Sivalingam scripted history in just his debut Commonwealth Games, breaking the Games record en route to a gold medal, while compatriot Ravi Katulu took the silver in the men`s 77kg event on Day 4. Shooters continued to their good form with Shreyasi Singh and Mohammed Asab clinching the double trap silver and the bronze while woman lifter Punam Yadav picked up a bronze.

On Day 5, we certainly can hope for more success as some of India`s brightest medal prospects will participate in their respective disciplines.

Om Parkash Singh Karhana from Gurgaon will feature in the final of the Men`s Shot Put. The Haryana lad has a personal best of 20.69m, which ranks him third among the 12 finalists. If he can manage something close to his PB, Karhana will have a great chance of picking up a medal.

In Badminton, India take on Singapore in a Mixed Teams Bronze medal match at the Emirates Arena. With a strong team comprising of Parupalli Kashyap, Jwala Gutta, Ashwini Ponappa and PV Sindhu, the country can expect a good show from our shuttlers.

Shooting, which has been India`s biggest source of medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games has 6 events on Day 5. Olympic bronze medallist, Gagan Narang will kick-start his campaign in the 50m Rifle Prone Men`s event along with Joydeep Karmarkar who had finished fourth, just short of a bronze in the 2012 London Olympics.

Veteran shooter Manavjit Sandhu will also be in action today in the Trap Men`s qualification event.

India`s flag-bearer at the Games, Vijay Kumar will feature in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event. Kumar, who was our best shooter in the 2012 London Olympics, picking up a silver medal is one of the favorites to pocket a medal in Glasgow.

50m Rifle Prone Women`s Final has two Indians in the running for medals as Lajja Gouswami and Meena Kumari will feature in the event.

India`s premier boxing talents will enter the ring in the 49kg, 56kg, 75kg and 69kg categories. Poster boy of Indian boxing Vijender Singh along with youngsters Laishram Devendro, Shiva Thapa and Mandeep Jangra will compete in their respective Round of 16 matches.

In Table Tennis, the Men`s team will take on Nigeria in the Bronze medal match.
