Indian boxing team returns from Glasgow
New Delhi: The Indian boxing team returned today from Glasgow, Scotland, after bagging four silver medals and one bronze medal in various boxing events.

Vijendra Singh won silver against England`s Antony Fowler in the finals. After his arrival at the New Delhi airport Singh said, "You can see from my face, the journey was very good. We enjoyed it. In total we fought five matches. We couldn`t perform better than the last commonwealth games, but still it was good."

"Everybody plays to win, so did we. Every team gave its hundred per cent. We have three silvers in men and one in women, and are satisfied with whatever we have got. It`s okay," he added.

Showing his medal, he said, "Yes it`s my son`s birthday today. I will give the medal to him as his present."

Mandeep Jangra who bagged silver against England in Men`s Welter (69kg) Final Bout, told ANI, "I just want to say that with all your wishes I have won this medal. I wish that you always keep praying like this and I will keep bringing medals like this. It is just the beginning."

Wrestlers and other sportspersons from Haryana have led the charge of Indian brigade in Glasgow this time. Besides established names like boxing champion Vijender Singh and state wrestler Sushil Kumar, other new stars have also arrived on the horizon.

India has won 15 gold, 30 silver and 19 bronze medals in the Commonwealth Games, 2014, making the total of 64 medals.
