Zee Media BureauNew Delhi: Alex Hales was included in England`s ODI squad for the forthcoming ODI series announced on Monday, while players like Ravi Bopara and Tim Bresnan were ignored by the selectors.
The ECB confirmed the squad through their personal account on social micro-blogging site Twitter.
Hales, who played a sensational match-winning knock in ICC World T20 earlier this year, has been in exceptional form of late, and will most probably open the innings with skipper Alastair Cook.
However, Stuart Broad will miss the series as he is due to consult with a specialist this week about his long-term knee injury.
There were reports about James Anderson also being rested for the ODIs, but the champion speedster, who was adjudged the Man of the Series in the Test series, was named in the squad.
Surprisingly, the likes of Ravi Bopara and Tim Bresnan weren`t included in the 15-member squad.
The five-match series is scheduled to kick off from August 25.
England squad: A Cook (captain), M Ali, J Anderson, G Ballance, I Bell, J Buttler (wkt), S Finn, H Gurney, A Hales, C Jordan, E Morgan, J Root, B Stokes, J Tredwell, C Woakes.
