Can Suresh Raina lead young Indian team to series win against Bangladesh?

After being dropped from Team India`s squad for the Asia Cup, veteran Indian left-hander Suresh Raina has a job up his sleeves to lead a young Indian team for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh.

Raina, who played an incredible knock against Kings XI Punjab in the recently concluded IPL, has been appointed the skipper of the Indian team in the absence of regular skipper MS Dhoni and his deputy Virat Kohli.

Considering the forthcoming crucial England tour, the BCCI decided to rest its key players. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami are the other names who have been rested.

The absence of the senior players has provided an opportunity to several youngsters to prove their mettle at the international stage. While Robin Uthappa was recalled into the squad as a result of his superb consistency in IPL 7, players like Kedar Jadhav, Wriddhiman Saha, Parvez Rasool, Akshar Patel too were included in the 15-member squad.

It isn`t for the first time that Raina has been given the responsibility to lead the team. He was also the captain in a tri-series in Zimbabwe, and a five-ODI series in the Caribbean. While India failed to reach the final of that tri-nation tournament in Zimbabwe, the team won the bilateral series convincingly in the West Indies.

While Raina would be keen to add another series win to his resume as a Team India skipper, Bangladesh, who are unhappy with the squad being sent for the ODIs, will leave no stone unturned in giving their 100 percent.

We at Zeenews.com invite you to post your comments and tell us whether you think Raina can lead the young Indian squad to a series win?
