Is Laxman the most underrated Indian batsman ever?

A heroic batting display under tremendous pain by VVS Laxman helped India to secure a memorable win against his favourite opponent Australia.

Often termed as Very-Very Special, Laxman has performed brilliantly in the last two years with an average of 80 and scoring a century every four Tests.

Since the time Laxman has arrived on International circuit, he has been a trouble shooter for India. He’s one of the rare breed of batsmen in Test cricket whose second innings average (50.47) is better than that of the first (45.67).

Batting at a crucial No 6 position in Test, Laxman has played too many gem of an innings to steer India out of testing situations.

Despite these achievements, Indian cricket fans have never bestowed on him the stature they have on Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly, and more lately Sehwag.

Rather, Laxman has often been the most disposable member of the Indian team and it seems he has been playing for his place in the side throughout his career.

We at Zeecric.com want to ask our readers if they think that VVS Laxman has been the most underrated Indian batsman ever and has been unlucky to not get the same stature as Dravid, Ganguly or Tendulkar in the longer version of the game.
