Manipur is bounded by Nagaland in the North, Assam in the West, Mizoram in the South and Burma in the East.

The capital of this beautiful state is Imphal. The state is spread over an area of 22,347 km. Imphal is in the midst of an oval-shaped valley at an elevation of almost 790 meters above the sea-level.

There are four rivers in the state, Barak, Manipur, Yu and Lanye. The state can be divided into two broad regions-the area outside lined up with hills and valleys and the inner area of plains.
