Need to strengthen security in coastal areas in TN: DGP

The Tamil Nadu DGP K P Jain Tuesday said there was need to strengthen security arrangements in coastal areas in the state as threats persisted `in various forms`, despite an end to the war between LTTE and Sri Lankan army.

Steps have been initiated to strengthen the country`s coastal security, Naval Chief Admiral Nirmal Kumar Verma said Thursday and expressed optimism that the targets set for the coastal defence would be met.

Centre wants states to rope in ex-Naval personnel for security
