Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Karan Singh today suggested that flash floods in Leh be treated as a national calamity and offered Rs 50 lakh for relief and rehabilitation work in case such a decision is taken.

Five Armymen were killed in the cloudburst at Leh and other areas of the region while 33 personnel, swept away in flash floods that struck a camp near Siachen glacier, are yet to be traced.
