National record holder Sudha Singh of Railways bettered her own meet mark while winning gold in women`s 3000m steeplechase on the third and penultimate day of the 53rd National Open Athletics Championships on Monday.

The 26-year-old holds the current Indian national record for 3000m Steeplechase with a mark of 9:55.67, which she clocked while winning the Gold in the XVI Asian Games at Guangzhou on 21 November 2010.

The organisers were left red-faced following the cancellation of women`s 3000m steeplechase event because of lack of competitors.
