The Supreme Court Monday issued notice to the Punjab government on a petition by film producer Prakash Jha seeking compensation for banning the screening of his 2011 film ‘Aarakshan’.

The Supreme Court today sought response from the Centre and Uttar Pradesh government on filmmaker Prakash Jha`s petition challenging the state government`s decision to ban screening of `Aarakshan`.

The Supreme Court will hear Tuesday a petition by film producer and director Prakash Jha seeking the quashing of the orders by the Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Punjab governments banning or suspending screening of his film "Aarakshan" in these states.
