A Supreme Court-appointed panel on Wednesday referred to its report on illegal iron ore extractions in Goa in the apex court to buttress its point that miners should get fresh environment clearance certificates.

Reacting to reports about CEC's recommendation for a probe into the alleged illegal export of seized iron ore from the Belekeri port by shipping operators, including Adani Enterprises, the company Sunday said it does not own or operate any iron ore mine in any part of the country, including Karnataka.

The Supreme Court on Friday accepted the recommendations of a Central Empowered Committee (CEC), appointed by it, which had suggested that no new mining leases should be granted in Bellary, Tumkur and Chitradurga districts of Karnataka unless rehabilitation plans for the existing leases were executed.
