World marathon record holder Patrick Makau was left out of the Kenyan men`s team named on Wednesday for the London Olympics after he failed to finish last Sunday`s London marathon.

Kenyan Patrick Makau dethroned king of the roads Haile Gebrselassie at the Berlin marathon on Sunday by slashing 21 seconds off the Ethiopian`s world record despite running on his own for the final 10 kilometres.

Kenyan Patrick Makau won the Berlin marathon on Sunday but failed to break Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie`s world record with heavy rain and fog killing off his chances.
