UNESCO lists 6 Syrian heritage sites as `endangered`

UNESCO on Thursday added six ancient sites in Syria including a fortress of Saladin and a Crusader castle to the endangered World Heritage list, warning that more than two years of civil war had inflicted heavy damage.

India proposes inscription of 39 sites in world heritage list

India has submitted a proposal to UNESCO World Heritage Centre for inscription of 39 serial sites in Western Ghats on its World Natural Heritage List, the Government said in Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

A region of mountainous forests in Sri Lanka and an isolated archipelago off Hawaii have been added to UNESCO`s World Heritage list, officials of the UN cultural and scientific body said on Saturday.
