Rs 1,000 note to have new numbering system to check counterfeiting

A new numbering system and seven new security features will be incorporated in all currency notes, especially in high denomination Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes, in order to check the menace of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN).

More than 27.31 lakh pieces of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), with face value of Rs 136.43 crore, were seized in three years through 2014, Parliament was informed Tuesday.
