Senior IAS officer Ramesh Abhishek was Tuesday given a three-month extension as the chairman of the Forward Markets Commission (FMC).

This is the third time that Abhishek has got an extension after taking over as the chief of the commodity markets regulator in September, 2012. The latest extension is till April 7.

To achieve more transparency in the futures market there is a need to build a strong ecosystem, like proper warehousing and uniform Goods and Service Tax, Forward Markets Commission Chairman Ramesh Abhishek has said.
