Gandhinagar: No-confidence motion moved by the Gujarat Congress legislative party against the Narendra Modi-led BJP government was tabled in the Assembly on Friday.

Congress' chief whip, Balwantsinh Rajput, moved the motion.

All the Congress MLAs stood in support of tabling of the motion, after which the speaker declared that the motion had been tabled in the House.

BJP has an absolute majority in the 182-member House with 119 MLAs against Congress' 54.

Congress brought the motion to highlight the corruption, it said.

"Involvement of ministers like Babu Bokhiriya, Anandi Patel and Parshottam Solanki in corruption (cases) have been confirmed by various courts. They have no reason to continue like this," Congress MLA Tejashree Patel said.

Recently a BJP worker's name surfaced in a scam related to duping of job aspirant youths to the tune of more than Rs 1.4 crore, Patel alleged, adding "he has connections with BJP, though ruling party has kept mum. We have demanded a fair investigation in this case by CBI."

Police recently arrested one Kalyansinh Champawat, who allegedly took money from candidates appearing for examination for the village Talathi (revenue officer) post.

Assembly sources said that the motion can be taken up for consideration in three full days, but as the Assembly session, called for vote-on-account, will end in three days, it is unlikely to be taken up.
