New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Monday asked the central government to probe the alleged killing of one fisherman and abduction of 30 others by Pakistan.
The incident took place on Saturday when the fishermen travelling in '' boats were intercepted by the Pakistani Special Marines from international waters off the Jakhau coast in Gujarat. Their fate since then remains unknown.
An eye-witness to the incident had said that the firing began when they were fishing in international waters which ended up killing one of the fishermen.
"Spoke to A K Antony on Pakistan's action against Guj fishermen today. Urged him that Centre should take a serious note and investigate it," Modi wrote on his twitter account last week.
"We will soon speak to central and state government on the issue," Porbandar Boat association vice president, Manish Lodhari, said.
This is the first major attack on Indian fishermen by Pakistan after the start of fishing season.
