Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) (JVM) MLA from Ichagarh constituency in Seraikela-Kharswan district, Arvind Kumar Singh on Saturday said a senior BJP leader had implicated him in false charges of murder of a leader of his party at Bagmundi in Purulia district of neigbouring West Bengal.

Singh was named in the FIR lodged at Bagmundi police station in connection with the gunning down of former President of BJP's Kurku block committee, Anil Gope by unidentified assailants on Friday morning.

Gope, a resident of Choura village under Tiruldih police station in Seraikela-Kharswan district bordering West Bengal, was shot dead when he went to a pond falling under the jurisdiction of Bagmundi police station.

Singh told the media that it was a political ploy of BJP to prevent him from contesting the coming assembly assembly election, which was expected to take place in next couple of months.

BJP has indulged in character assassination and prevent him from taking part in the electoral process, Singh alleged while calling for an impartial probe by any agency.

Singh said he will be meeting the Superintendent of Police, Purulia later in the day today to demand for a probe into the killing of Gope.

In fact, JVM leader claimed, he was the person to make Gope the block president for the first time when he was in BJP and hardly ever met him after joining JVM.

Gope was a named accused in the murder of four JVM activists, who were brutally murdered while they were returning home after taking part in Singh's victory celebration in the last election near Chandil.
