Two arrested for trying to smuggle charas

Rameswaram: Two persons have been arrested near Keelakarai for allegedly trying to smuggle 'charas' worth Rs 5 lakh from here to Sri Lanka.

The contraband was seized after the state's 'Q' branch police stopped the two persons riding a motorcycle with a 'suspicious' luggage, Kennady, 'Q' branch inspector said.

Interrogation revealed that they planned to smuggle the narcotic to Sri Lanka, he said, adding, they were remanded to custody today.
