Agriculture is the mainstay of the people of the jeweled state. Since it is essentially a rice consuming state, paddy is the main crop grown in the state.

Other cultivation includes wheat, pulses, maize etc. In the hilly side, jhoom or terrace cultivation is more common. It also has a very wide range of small-scale industries which produce pharma and electronic goods.
