Q SIR..How does one choose between summer programs offered by universities and those offered by other institutions but held on the campus of the universities. For example how to choose between a summer program offered by Harvard and the one offered by Summer Discovery but held at Harvard

A Dear Student... Summer programs by universities can typically give you university credit and will be taught by university professors. Other summer programs do not necessarily give you credit and may also have a range of professors teaching. Quality wise- both are good, but also depends on what program you would want to choose.

Q SIR..my daughter is in the 3rd standard. what should I do to improve her maths knowledge? please help and suggest good books for a follow-up ?

A Dear Student... The key to improving your daughter’s knowledge of Maths is to strengthen her Number sense. If this is done it will stand her in excellent stead all the way to Std.12. Google ‘Number Sense’ for a load of exercises including those on estimation. Online worksheets are available for practice of these exercises. At the practice level – everyday applications like Sudoku are exciting ways to get your child interested. Chess is a good sport to hone the mind. This may be anathema to some, but the game of bridge at a later level is also excellent for sharpening mathematical ability.

A Dear Student... For a job in the US, you need to complete your degree there. After you do your USMLE exam you should look to apply for an M.D program and through that program find a job in the U.S. Without that, it will be very difficult due to visa purposes.
