Property worth crores found in CBFC CEO Rakesh Kumar's lockers

New Delhi: In the case of bribery against former Central Board of Film Certification CEO, Rakesh Kumar, the CBI has opened the locker of the accused.



The locker has revealed jewellery and property papers worth crores of Rupees. CBI is currently evaluating the total value of the recent findings.

Kumar was arrested on Tuesday on the allegation of taking bribe to pass films, sometimes taking cash and even taking gift items worth lakhs. He was arrested whilst allegedly accepting Rs 70,000 in order to clear a regional movie.

He was appointed to helm the censor board in January and several Bollywood filmmakers and distributors have also come under the radar who will be called in for questioning.

The Information and Broadcast ministry suspended Kumar for allegedly accepting the bribes. According to sources, the CEO of the Childrens Film Society of India (CFSI), Sharavan Kumar, will assume additional charge as CEO of CBFC.
