Kolkata, June 21: `Laal Juto` (Red shoe), a student film produced by the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), has won one of the top five prizes of the just-concluded 11th Shanghai International Film Festival carrying a prize money of USD1,500.
The film, directed by Shweta Merchant, received the award for the best creative idea from an international jury.
This was the first time that a student`s film made by SRFTI has won an international award, Institute sources said here today.
In all, 400 entries were received from film institutes in 20 countries for the students film competition in the festival which short-listed 24 for final consideration.
