Mumbai: The underworld has once again cast its shadow on Bollywood. Akshay Kumar has now received an extortion call from the underworld. The actor’s office sent a written application to the Juhu police station on 22 October following which the star was provided with protection.
Recently, singer-composer Sonu Nigam too was threatened by Chhota Shakeel, a member of India’s most wanted man Dawood Ibrahim’s gang. Even producer Boney Kapoor and producer-director Karan Johar had filed complaints with the police following extortion calls from gangsters in the last few months.
Producer-director Ram Gopal Varma was also reportedly threatened by Chhota Shakeel a few days back. The film poster of RGV’s latest- ‘Satya 2’, a film based on the underworld read the following caption:
“Dawood Ibrahim has retired, Chota Rajan has become inactive, Abu Salem is in jail.... Coming to reinvent the underworld.”
This apparently irked Shakeel, who then threatened RGV for challenging his power.
RGV tweeted, “On basis of an intercepted conversation Mumbai police gave me security..for various reasons I cant duvulge the contents of the threat. For some important reasons I cannot comment on whether or not this threat to me is related to the content of Satya 2 (sic).”
