Neil Nitin Mukesh, the grandson of veteran singer Mukesh, is admired by many for his dashing good looks and golden curly hair.
Neil was born in Mumbai to Bollywood playback singer Nitin Mukesh and Nishi Mukesh. After schooling at Greenlawns High School in Mumbai, he graduated from HR College with a Bachelor`s degree in Communications. He also did a 4-months workshop in acting at Anupam Kher`s institute during his college vacation.
Neil stared his innings in Bollywood as a child actor and did various movies like ‘Vijay’ (1988) and ‘Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharni’ (1989). He did receive several offers as a lead actor before his acting debut as an adult, but as he did not want to debut with a love story, he chose to wait for the right role. And in the meantime, Neil assisted Aditya Chopra in his movie ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge’.
It was then that Sriram Raghavan offered him ‘Johnny Gaddaar’. Neil’s role in the movie was of an ambitious and smooth talking murderer. Although the movie did not do too well at the Box-Office, it was critically acclaimed and Nitin’s acting skills were appreciated.
After his impressive debut, Neil was next seen in Kabir Khan`s ‘New York’ and Madhur Bhandarkar`s ‘Jail’. His next on the anvil is Sudhir Mishra`s ‘Tere Kya Hoga Johnny’, and Abbas-Mustan`s remake of ‘The Italian Job’.
It is ironical indeed that the grandsons of Mukesh (Neil) and Raj Kapoor (Ranbir) made their debuts in the same year and were competing for the best male debut award.
