Vivek made his Bollywood debut after he got engaged to his long-standing girlfriend Gurpreet Gill. But the couple called of their engagement for reasons which are not clear as yet.

In 2005, Vivek bagged the ‘Red and White Bravery Award’ for lending unconditional support and help to the Tsunami affected villagers of Tamil Nadu. He adopted Devanapattinam, a village in the state. Buzz has it that the talented actor did not accept the bravery award as he campaigned against consumption of tobacco.

In July 2003, Vivek broke his leg while shooting for Mani Ratnam’s film and had to be hospitalised. He had to undergo a surgery and was admitted to the ICU. His condition was quite critical for a couple of days.
