Lawrence, Feb 23: Robert Krause burgers are a delightful treat for gourmet lovers.
At Lawrence home, Krause is no ordinary chef who dishes out the usual burgers. Krause and Simon Bates together offer sumptuous fries and gourmet burgers at The Burger Stand at Dempsey’s, 623 Vt.
Speaking about his hamburger project, Krause says “There has been this national craze of upscale burger joints, and it sounded fun.”
At the Burger Stand, one finds upscale burgers however the joint has nothing much extraordinary about its appeal. All hamburgers come with a awesome strip steak, tenderloin and rib-eye complete with gourmet pickles with remarkable toppings of tzatziki sauce, apple chutney and shallot-bacon marmalade.
Talking about the hamburger project, according to Bates “a lot of the kids come in here and order our classic burger — our cheeseburger — and they love it. Then they come back and they’re trying something with pickled cauliflower on it. And they love that, too. So, we think it is a great way to expand people’s tastes.”
Talking about the prices, one finds a pretty suitable range - The Classic comes for $7 and Kobe beef burgers are priced at $9. In case you are looking for fries, you have to shell out some extra bucks (you can go for chilli fries, regular, truffle fries and sweet potato fires). You can ask for the homemade ketchup that comes with a hint of roasted garlic.
In case you settle for meals, the price for meal starts from $80 per plate. For wine lovers, one has to shell out extra $50 or $60.
According to Krause “our (east Lawrence) restaurant is clearly for special occasions, but I could see people eating down here once a week.”
Give yourself a treat and check out gourmet hamburgers at ‘The Burger Stand’.
