For all those who hate spinach and don’t give a damn for it even if it may be the cure and prevention of a thousand diseases, here is a recipe that will be a complete curtain raiser from the fact that ‘leaves’ are for herbivorous animals. Try it and learn to love spinach.
Ingredients:
4 cups finely chopped spinach
2-3 tsp ghee
1 small onion finely chopped
1 tsp minced ginger
2 tsp chopped green chillies
½ tsp cumin
½ tsp garam masala
Salt to taste
1 tsp poppy seeds paste
1/2 cup cream
Procedure: Heat ghee and fry onion ginger and chilly till they become translucent. Add spinach along with garam masala and salt. Cover the lid and cook the spinach till it is done. Mash to a paste. Meanwhile fry poppy seeds in ghee till it becomes golden brown. Now add milk spinach and cream. Cook till the spinach becomes dry and starts leaving the sides of the pan. Serve hot.
