London: Acting legend Sir Michael Caine claims he can cook the best roast potatoes in the world.

The Get Carter star insisted that even Michael Winner, the restaurant critic and film director, acknowledges it.

"I’m a very good cook. I do the best roast potatoes in the world, according to Michael Winner." A daily quoted him as saying on radio.

Caine even revealed how he prepares the delicacy.

He said, "My tip is precook them, boil them first, and put them in cold fat, not hot fat, so it soaks in. Get them absolutely dry.

"Let them steam and then go dry, put the lid back on, shake them so that they go all fluffy, then put them in cold olive oil with rosemary and sage in it. But you’ve got to boil them first otherwise they’ll be no good.

"They [the listeners] can all write to me if they don’t turn out right."

The 76-year-old actor also recollected Christmas time during his childhood days.

He said, "I grew up during the war so there was no Christmas and so it’s psychological with me, I over produce Christmas like Sam Goldwyn.

"The whole place is full of decorations, Christmas carols going on all day, the Queen’s speech goes on, everything that is traditional goes on in my house. And the food – I always get too much.

"At the end of lunch, just before we have Christmas pudding, we open a bottle of champagne and we all wish each other the best. That’s the best moment for me."
