Sigourney Weaver joins the cast of 'A Monster Calls'

Los Angeles: `Alien` star Sigourney Weaver is the latest star to join the Liam Neeson-Felicity Jones starrer `A Monster Calls`.

The film is an adaptation of Patrick Ness` award-winning children`s fantasy novel and is being directed by Juan Antonio Bayona of `The Impossible` fame.

The story revolves around a young boy who attempts to deal with bullying at the hands of his classmates, and his mother`s terminal illness, by escaping into a fantastical world through the guidance of a tree monster, reportedly.

Weaver will play the boy`s grandmother, Jones is on board as the mother, while Neeson is playing the titular monster.
The film will release on October 14, 2016.
