London: Actress Laura Dern has joined the cast of the upcoming movie `Wild`.
Dern will play actress Reese Witherspoon`s on-screen mother in the movie, which will be directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, reports deadline.com.
Written by Nick Hornby, the movie is an adaptation of Cheryl Strayed`s best selling 2012 memoir `Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail`.
The movie chronicles Strayed`s 1,000-mile journey walking the Pacific Crest Trail after divorce, drug abuse and the death of her mother.
