New York: Actress Melanie Griffith is thrilled that her daughter Dakota Johnson has nabbed her first big role as Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of E L James` erotic novel `Fifty Shades of Grey`.
James announced Monday via Twitter that Johnson will play Steele opposite Charlie Hunnam, who will play Christian Grey in the BDSM-centric film, set to hit theaters next year, reported Huffington Post.
Griffith, who appeared nude in 1975`s `Night Moves`, does not seem concerned about the risque nature of the role that her 23-year-old daughter would do.
"My beautiful child Dakota has been chosen to play Anna Steele in 50 Shades!!! Look out world! Here she comes!!! #proudmama," Griffith announced on Twitter.
Johnson has previously appeared in `The Social Network`, `21 Jump Street`, `The Five-Year Engagement` and `The Office`.
Not everyone is happy with Hunnam and Johnson`s casting as `Fifty Shades of Grey` fans have launched an online petition on Change.Org demanding that producers replace Johnson and Hunnam with Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel.
