London: `Iron Man` star Robert Downey Jr wants to become a pop star and is reportedly planning to record an album.
The 48-year-old actor has been approached by record producers since a duet he did with rocker Sting hit the internet and is secretly recording an album, reported Showbizspy.
"Some of the biggest names in the music industry are helping Robert put his CD together," a source said.
"Robert has already recorded several songs, and he sounds better than a lot of the performers out there," it added.
Downey and Sting have been friends for years.
"Those two go way back, and you couldn`t ask for a better music mentor than Sting. It is clear that Robert is talented, and he has been writing music for as long as he can remember. Who knows? He may win a Grammy before he gets an Oscar," the source added.
