Chennai: Shooting is going on at a brisk pace for the Dileep-starrer `7 Sundara Raathrikal` directed by Lal Jose.
The camera started rolling on September 25, just a month after Jose`s hit movie `Pullipuliyam Aatinkuttiyum` starring Kunchako Bobban was released.
Jose is introducing a new face Parvathy Nambiar in the movie, which also has Murali Gopi and Rima Kallingal in key roles.
"It is being done at short-notice. The plan is to get it released on December 20," Jose said.
The story is of a man in his late 30s getting married and he throws a party for his friends. The movie starts off from that point and the incidents that happen seven days before the marriage form the crux of the story.
This is his 20th movie and seventh with Dileep as the hero: `Chandranudikkunna Dikhil`, `Meesa Madhavan`, `Rasikan`, `Chanthupottu`, `Mulla`, `Spanish Masala` are the other films.
Jose, who scouts around for new ideas and new faces in his movies, does not believe he can create a talent. When he takes in a new face, he keeps in mind the freshness he/she can bring in to the film and how they can contribute as a whole and not that he is giving a fresh lease of life to them in the industry, Jose said.
There are cases of talented newcomers who have acted in his films going unnoticed because these did not do well.
He strongly believes that if a talented youngster does well and goes on to better projects, it is their fate, luck and God?s will. Jose believes he cannot take the credit for that. "I will be happy that I noticed them and cast in them in my movie before others did," he said.
About people`s expectations, Jose said he is conscious of
the fact that people expect a good film from him.
It was different with his debut film, the 1998 Mammooty starrer `Oru Maravathur Kanavu` as he was just branching out on his own and keen on making a success.
He was not aware of people`s expectations at that time nor was he keen, but was conscious of the industry`s as he had worked as an assistant and associate director for nine years and was familiar with the actors.
`Oru Maravathur Kanavu` went on to become a hit, and Jose became a name to be reckoned with in the industry.
People have now come to expect a different theme, subject and treatment in his films. At the same time, he takes on themes and films about which he is convinced. So when his convictions and likes sync with that of the majority, the movie becomes a hit.
"Sometimes it does not work out," he said.
Mentored by popular filmmaker Kamal, Jose`s favourite auteurs include Bharathan, Padmarajan, Sathyan Anthikkad and directors like Anwar Rasheed among the new generation.
