Bollywood composer, singer and song-writer, AR Rahman, who is fondly called as ‘Mozart of Madras’, turns 46 on 6th January 2012. A winner of two Oscars and four National Film Awards and a dozen of Filmfare Awards, AR Rahman is a breed apart.

Right from ethereal tunes of ‘Roja’ to hard rock symphonies of ‘Rockstar’, AR Rahman is celebrated for interpolating Indian classical and Western influences in his silken melodies. Rahman’s influences include Carnatic music, Hindustani music, Western classical and Qawwali style with symphonic orchestral themes varied harmonized musical arrangements.
