Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (2000)

‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ was a 1999 film directed by director- filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film did extremely well in India and abroad. It was a love triangle between Nandini (played by Aishwarya Rai), Sameer (played by Salman Khan) and Vanraj (played by Ajay Devgn). It continues to be one of the best love stories ever made in Bollywood.

Kaho Na Pyaar Hai (2001)

KNPH was a Bollywood film released in the year 2000. It was directed by Rakesh Roshan and his son actor Hrithik Roshan made his debut with this film. KNPH was a superhit film and Hrithik rose to fame over night. He had huge fan following after the film got released. The film bagged many awards in 2001, including eight Filmfare Awards.

Lagaan (2002)


‘Lagaan’ was a period film set in the era of the India’s colonial British Raj. It was a sports themed Bollywood film, very different from industry’s conventional subjects. It was written and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. Actor Aamir Khan not only produced the film but also acted in it. It was an out-of-the-box concept which won fans and audiences world over for the patriotic spirit that lied under current. A very passionately made film, indeed!

Devdas (2003)

‘Devdas’ made in 2002 was the third Bollywood Hindi version of Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel. It was the first coloured version of the epic novel. It was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and it starred Aishwarya Rai, Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri in the lead roles. The film won many awards for the brilliant adaptation by Bhansali. It is a timeless epic and shall continue to be so in the years to come.

Kal Ho Na Ho (2004)

‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ had a huge star cast comprising of Shah Rukh Khan, Priety Zinta and Saif Ali Khan. It was a romantic comedy directed by Nikhil Advani. Nikhil did a wonderful job for his first film as a director. The film was produced and co-written by Karan Johar. The film won many accolades for the sensitive emotional love triangle it depicted. Not only the film won accolades for performance and storyline, the music of ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ too was widely appreciated.

Veer Zaara (2005)

‘Veer Zaara’ was a film directed by Yash Chopra. It was a love story set up across India and Pakistan. It starred Rani Mukerji, Priety Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead roles. It was a heart touching love story which was declared a huge hit in the year 2004. It won many awards in the year it was released. Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini had made a special appearance in the film too.

Black (2006)

‘Black’ has been the most brilliant and flawless work of the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It starred Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan. ‘Black’ revolves around a blind and deaf girl, and her relationship with her teacher who himself later develops Alzheimer`s disease. It is one of the must watch movies ever made in Bollywood and absolutely heart touching too. It was screened at film festivals abroad and it won many awards not just in India but abroad as well. It has been one of the finest movies ever made in B-town.

Rang De Basanti (2007)

RDB was a revolutionary film that touched people and their lives. The film written and directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra was a huge hit which highly influenced the youth of India. Soon after the film was released, people were inspired enough to come together to fight for justice. It left its mark on people and their minds. It ushered a new wave of revolution among the modern youth of India. One of the most influential films ever made in Bollywood.

Chak De! India (2008)

‘Chak De! India’ is an Indian sports film about field hockey in India. It was directed by new-age director Shimit Amin and produced by Yash Raj Films. Actor Shah Rukh Khan played the lead in the film as Kabir Khan, who is the coachof the Indian women’s hockey team. The film was a debut for 15 young girls who played the part of the hockey team. It was a unique film that highlighted the sexism in the field of sports in India.

Jodha Akbar (2009)

‘Jodhaa-Akbar’ was an Indian epic film released in 2008. It was directed and produced by Ashutosh Gowariker. The film centers around the romance between the Muslim Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great, played by Hrithik Roshan, and the Hindu Rajput Princess Jodha Bai who becomes his wife, played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Both the characters were beautifully played by the talented actors the film. It was a brilliant interpretation of the historic love story. The music in the film won many accolades. It was composed by acclaimed music composer AR Rahman.

3 Idiots (2010)


‘3 Idiots’ is a comedy film directed by Rajkumar Hirani. It stars actor Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor. It is loosely adapted from the novel ‘Five Point Someone’ by Chetan Bhagat. The film broke all opening box office records in India. It was the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India and it also went on to gross the highest opening day collections for a Bollywood film.
