crousel

What celebrities have to say...

March 8 is a day when the entire world unites for the cause of women. After all, it is primarily because of women that the human race exists on the face of this earth. This International Women’s Day, here’s what the Hindi film and TV fraternity have to share.

For me, every single day is Women’s Day. Without them, life wouldn’t exist. Creation is synonymous with women. Women are way stronger than men… Their mere ability to tolerate so much leaves one agape.

Women’s Day has a grave importance in these times. I am in the world because of a woman. I have a sister who I can’t live without. It is necessary for people to sit up and realise the importance of women in today’s world.

March 8 is a reminder for people to re-realise what role women play in their lives. Our mothers, sisters, wives, girlfriends are all crucial to our existence. Everything in a man’s life is due to a woman. They are such an integral part of a man’s life that it is difficult to even imagine anything without them. Women’s Day is to make people understand that they should not forget to pay attention to women. For me, my mother is a person who can’t be replaced... the most special woman in my life!

Women form almost half of the world’s population and I don’t know what good comes out of separating a day to celebrate womanhood. Having a day for this is a good idea but there are n-number of issues pertaining to women that need to be addressed. I am not aware of what is achieved by International Women’s Day because I was – since childhood – taught by my father to respect women. My mother was the only female member in our family and so respecting women was a part of my upbringing, and my mother and wife are the most special women in my life. At the end of the day it is the government`s responsibility to protect people who are unable to protect themselves.

What does Women’s Day mean to you?
I respect women no matter whom or how they are. I may sound very prejudiced but the fact is that I tend to be against men but I am always for women.

Which woman in your life is closer to you?
My nani, my mom and my sister- all the three generations. In future, if I have a daughter, I will be thankful to God.

What do you like so much about daughters?
Daughters are the most precious gift a woman could get.

According to you, what is the significance of celebrating Women’s Day?
I believe that the day should be celebrated in one’s head first. One should understand the importance of this day and that of women to make that happen.

Which all qualities do women possess that men don’t?
Women are better managers. They can multi-task. Women are also less into corruption. If you see the number of corruption cases, the ratio is 9:1. Also, women are better teachers.

Which woman from history or from today’s date do you admire the most?
I look up to every woman who has done something good in her life. But specifically, I really like Mahadevi Verma. I have read about her and I respect her for the social work she has done.

Recognition and acknowledging the importance of women in our life and in the world to speak. Women’s Day is a celebration of womanhood. I believe in the saying the hand that rocks the cradle rules the word.

Which woman in your life is closer to you?
My mother and sister because they have been the longest time with me what I am is also partly a reflection of who they are.

How are you going to make the women in your life feel special this time?
I won’t be home in Delhi as I am in Mumbai. I will give a phone call to wish my sister and mother.

Which woman from history or from today’s date do you admire the most?
I like Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil. They are women of substance and worth celebrating.

Women’s Day or not, women deserve to be met with love and respect, every single day of the year. I hope all women’s safety concerns are washed away soon. Every man should respect women – be it a mother, sister, wife, lover, friend or any woman whosoever. If there was no woman, there would have been no life around!

Women’s Day is all the more important today in the country. It’s a day where we have to remind men and educate them how to respect women as a gender. Though as much as we celebrate this day for women, it must be used by everyone around to remind people of the atrocities that happened to the Delhi gang-rape victim and other girls. This Women’s Day I pay my tribute to the women who have lost their lives because inhabitants are not civilians in this country. And when it comes to the most special woman in my life – clichéd as it might sound – it’s my mother!
