The Dhak Dhak Girl’s Journey

Born in a Hindu Brahmin family to Snehalata and Shankar Dixit, no one ever thought that this girl will make it big in Bollywood someday. Till date, one cannot spot any difference in her looks; at the age of 46, the lady still looks as charming and beautiful as ever. Dixit is one of the very few actresses who have left their career for marriage, and yet have made a smooth comeback after ten years. However, though her comeback film was not a box-office hit, still she wooed the audience with her dance moves.

Let’s take a look at her journey.

Madhuri Dixit was not the only child in the family, she has two sisters named Rupa and Bharti and a brother named Ajit. She completed her education from Divine Child High School and Mumbai University. It was not acting, but Kathak dance, which was her first love. Dixit had a Maharastrian upbringing and started learning Kathak dance at the extremely young age of 3. She also received many awards during her school time for her impeccable dance moves.

At a tender age of 17, Madhuri Dixit ventured into Bollywood with Rajshri productions` film `Abodh’. Though the movie didn’t turn out to be a box office success, Dixit was appreciated by critics for her acting. The glamorous diva played the role of a simple young bride, who is too young to understand the responsibilities which come along with marriage.

Tezaab

After giving few flop films like ‘Swati’, ‘Manav Hatya’, etc., Dixit went ahead to give a blockbuster movie ‘Tezaab’ – in which she was paired opposite Anil Kapoor. After doing movies like ‘Dil’ and ‘Saajan’, Madhuri Dixit was paired opposite Anil Kapoor in ‘Beta’. The movie is about how Madhuri’s husband Anil exposes her mother-in-law’s evil intentions. However, the movie focussed on Anil Kapoor, but Dixit managed to steal the limelight away with her flawless acting. The song ‘Dhak Dhak karne laga’ was a cherry on the cake, as it was termed one of the most sensuous songs in Hindi cinema. And what made it epic were the dancing diva Madhuri’s moves, which further made the temperature soar. She received her second Filmfare best actress award for this movie.

Khalnayak

In 1993 came a controversial movie ‘Khalnayak’, as it was right after its release that the lead actor Sanjay Dutt was sentenced to jail.
