crousel

Freddie Mercury

One of the greatest vocalist in the history of rock and roll, Freddie Mercury (5th September 1946-24th November 1991), was the frontman of British band Queen. Freddie, whose original name was Farrokh Bulsara and hailed from Indian descent, touched pinnacle of success as the singer-songwriter of English rock outfit Queen. Indeed, Freddie was rightly called as ‘Britian’s first Asian rockstar.’ Freddie breathed his last on 24th November 1991; he was HIV positive and died of bronchopneumonia.

Bohemian Rhapsody

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ enjoys a cult classic status, for it infuses the elements of ballad, opera and hard rock in a single song. A huge commercial success, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ was groundbreaking and much ahead of its times. No doubt, it’s a brilliant song written and composed by Freddie Mercury which features in ‘A Night at the Opera’ (1975).

We Will Rock You

A Brian May song, ‘We Will Rock You’ is a seminal song by English band Queen, which was inducted in Grammy Hall of Fame (2009). Don’t miss the thirty seconds solo by Brian May in ‘We Will Rock You.’

We Are The Champions

A power ballad, ‘We Are The Champions’ is one of the greatest ballads that went on to be associated with sporting victories and became the official theme song of FIFA World Cup (1994). The song was a part of Queen’s album ‘News Of The World’ (1977).

Don’t Stop Me Now

A peppy number, ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ is one of the all time greatest hits by Queen, especially when Freddie Mercury’s magic fingers are at piano and great vocal harmony. ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ featured on Queen’s ‘Jazz’ (1978) album.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ was written and composed by Freddie Mercury on guitar, an instrument about which the vocalist had little knowledge or no knowledge. Hence the simple chord structure for this hummable song. ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ featured in Queen’s ‘The Game’ (1980) album.

Another One Bites The Dust

This one is a classic Queen funk rock and disco like bass lines, all thanks to bassist John Deacon, Brian May’s guitar shredding, Roger Taylor’s tight drumming and Freddie Mercury’s powerful vocals. ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ appeared in Queen’s eight studio album ‘The Game’ (1980).

Under Pressure

‘Under Pressure’ was a classic collaboration between Queen and David Bowie, which was the result of a jam session. The song was a runaway hit and soon became number one on the UK Singles Chart.

I Want To Break Free

The real spirit of rebellion, Queen’s ‘I Want To Break Free’ was, is and will continue to remain a youth anthem. The song was essentially a reaction to women’s liberal movement, where Freddie, Deacon, Taylor and May are seen as cross dressers in ‘I Want To Break Free’ video. The song was released in Queen’s ‘The Works’ (1984) album.

Who Wants To Live Forever

‘Who Wants To Live Forever’ is an emotionally charged track composed by Queen for ‘A Kind of Magic’ (1986) and was also used in Russell Mulcahy’s ‘Highlander.’ It is one of the rare Queen songs where Brian May sings the first verse with Freddie Mercury taking over.

The Show Must Go On
