Symbols of Love

Love makes the world go round

When it comes to expressing love for your beloved, words alone can’t do the magic. And it’s not an easy thing to do, right? The best is to take a cue from some of the all-time romantic love symbols, which will speak volumes about your feelings for the special someone on the Valentine’s Day.

Here are some of the most romantic symbols to guide your way for a special V-Day celebration.

Heart

‘Heart’ is the most common and most widely recognized symbol of love, which also signifies `life`. ‘Heart’, as a symbol, speaks volumes when gifted to a loved one, as it clearly conveys the message that love is extremely essential for sustaining life, just as your heart. During Valentine`s Day, lovers gift each other heart shaped pillows, chocolates, cakes etc to express their love. So these too are a rage during the month of February.

Rose

A ‘Red Rose’ has been the most significant messenger of love. During the whole month of February, roses are so much in demand that people prefer to book bouquets in advance to avoid the last minute rush on the special day. But make sure that you show the right feelings to woo your special someone. A yellow rose stands for friendship. While, white rose stands for true love, pink stands for appreciation and dark red is symbolic for unconscious beauty. And a thorn-less rose means `love at first sight`.

Cupid

The love and attraction that a boy and a girl feel for one another is traditionally ascribed to the mythological god, Cupid. In Latin, the word Cupid means "desire." It is believed that there is bound to be a reason for two people falling in love with each other and they say it’s Cupid, the mischievous son of the Goddess of Love, Venus. Venus is responsible for making two people fall in love. Some beautiful cupid centerpieces, cupid paintings or greeting cards are gifted by lovers to each other on the V-Day.

Apple & Strawberry

Apple and Strawberry not only symbolise love, but also stand for ecstasy, fertility and abundance. Apple, in particular, also signifies feminine beauty and love. These are popularly drawn on greeting cards, or could be shared while celebrating the essence of love on the V-Day.

Love Birds and Doves

Doves signify purity, meekness and innocence. When one says ‘Love Birds’, a cute image of two lovebirds snuggling against each other on a tree branch comes to your mind. Love struck people around the world still mark their love with this image and it is said that these lovebirds can`t survive without their partners. Beautiful centerpieces of these two birds made of glasses and ceramics make popular Valentine’s Day gifts.

Love Knots

The old tradition of sending messages through the knots gave birth to the concept of love knots that continues even today. Made with ribbon or fancy lace, Love knots are traditional symbol of interminable and everlasting love.

Love tattoos

Flaunting the name of your love mate as a tattoo on your skin, may sound like a stupid idea, but this seems to be really ‘in’ these days as it shows how connected you wish to be with your loved one till you’re alive. Many of Bollywood celebrities like Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan, to name a few, happily flaunt the tattoo of their special someone on their bodies.

crousel

Love Letters

One of the best ways to express your love is by writing love letters. The idea of writing letters may sound a little boring to you, considering the latest technologies available these days, but it can’t be denied that many a lover has been seduced by a sincere and beautifully illustrated letter of affection. This could perhaps be the cutest way to impress your lover this Valentine’s Day, because not everyone has the talent to choose the right words!

Love Poems

Expressing love through poetry and songs is a great way to communicate your feelings to someone special. So an audio collection of some of the all time romantic songs makes for a very interesting gift for your loved one. This will convey what you otherwise couldn’t express directly in words to him/her.

crousel

Taj Mahal

And not to forget one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal, the epitome of love built in 17th century, which looks the best when seen in a moonlit night. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan got the mausoleum constructed for his beloved Mumtaz Mahal. For more than 350 years, The Taj Mahal has been the symbol of love. Lovers visit the monument, which is known for its beauty, lush green lawns and miniature paintings on its walls on the V-Day.
