New York: Artist Dick Giordano, who revived the Batman comics, has died after losing his battle with leukemia. He was 77.
The former executive editor at DC Comics passed away at the Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida on Saturday, reported New York Times. With over 40 years of experience in the comic book industry, Giordano is best known for re-imagining older characters for new audiences.
He oversaw projects including ``The Dark Knight Returns``, about an ageing Batman, and ``Watchmen``, about heroes in a world on the brink of nuclear war which was adapted for the big screen in 2009. During his tenure, DC Comics also introduced its first graphic novel collections, a format that has grown increasingly popular and profitable.
