Jaipur to host a galaxy of authors

New Delhi: Once again Jaipur is all set to host a galaxy of authors and performers. DSC Jaipur Literature Festival, Asia’s leading literary event will play host to authors, publishers and book lovers from 21st January – 25th January 2010 at the heritage property, Diggi Palace.
DSC Jaipur Literature Festival, already in its fifth year, promises an exciting mix of music, theatre and films along with panel discussions and readings by renowned authors from across the globe.

This year DSC Jaipur Literature Festival 2010 will play host to Vikram Chandra, Tina Brown, Tenzin Tsundue, Steve Coll, Stephen Frears, Salima Hashmi, Pavan Verma, Mahasweta Devi, Mark Tully, Lawrence Wright, Hanif Kureishi, Esther Freud, Claire Messud, Christophe Jaffrelot, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk, Alexander McCall Smith. The highlights of the evenings include screening of the movie ‘Queen”, performances by Titi Robbin, Cheb –I sabbah, The Nine Lives concert and more.

The fifth edition of DSC Jaipur Literature Festival is the most exciting event in India’s festival calendar. The cheerful ambience of the festival will be highlighted by great evening performances and an array of food including local Rajasthani, Gourmet French and Italian cuisine created by master chefs from these countries.

DSC Jaipur Literature Festival has hosted some of the finest writers in the past like Kiran Desai, Salman Rushdie, Vikram Seth, Nadeem Aslam, Pico Iyer, Thomas Keneally, Cristopher Hampton. The pleasant mornings under the Jaipur sun, are bustling with activity as the visitors swarm from one panel discussion to another, while an eclectic mix of performances, fine dining and pleasant conversations make up the relaxed evenings.

The DSC Jaipur Literature Festival programme this year has been put together by Namita Gokhale & William Dalrymple the two directors of the festival & has been produced by Sanjoy Roy from Teamwork Productions as last year.
