New York: Harryette Mullen has won a USD 50,000 Jackson Poetry Prize for being a poet of "exceptional talent who deserves wider recognition."The nonprofit literary organization Poets & Writers Inc. announced Mullen as the winner of the fourth annual Jackson Poetry Prize on Friday.
The 56-year-old Mullen has written such books as ‘Recyclopedia,’ ‘Muse & Drudge’ and ‘Sleeping With the Dictionary.’ Her socially and politically conscious verse is influenced by the feminist and civil rights movements.
