Mumbai: Acclaimed cartoonist Pran Kumar Sharma, the man behind cult Indian comics `Chacha Choudhary`, passed away on Wednesday morning. He was 76.

Born on August 15, 1938, in Kasur (modern day Pakistan), Pran graduated with a Masters Degree in Political Science. He then pursued a course in Fine Arts from Mumbai’s famous Sir JJ School of Arts.

The thespian had begun his career as a cartoonist way back in 1960. He was awarded with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indian Institute of Cartoonists in 2001, for his matchless contribution. Sharma was one such personality who made comics in India sell like hot-cakes.
