The song is undoubtedly one of the denizens of the enviable league of songs that will go down in history as the best to have been churned out of this country’s music industry. Lata Mangeshkar’s was the voice behind this exquisitely created number, the music was provided by Naushad and the lyrics were penned by Shakeel Badauni. Dilip Kumar and Madhubala’s ethereal romance on screen have always left grappling with emotions.

Suhana safar aur yeh mausam haseen

Mukesh’s flawless rendition and Dilip Kumar’s on-screen portrayal of ‘Suhana safar aur yeh mausam haseen’ is a jugalbandi that has left many mesmerised since the song came into existence. The song appears in the 1958 film ‘Madhumati’, in which Dilip Kumar, Vyjayanthimala and Pran play pivotal roles.

Sung in Talat Mehmood’s unparalleled voice and picturised on Dilip Kumar, ‘Yeh hawa yeh raat yeh chandni’ is a song that would surely rank among the best of the actor. A part of the 1952 film ‘Sangdil’, the music of the song was Sajjad’s.

Yeh mera deewanapan hai

In 1958, when the film ‘Yahudi’ released, its most loved number ‘Yeh mera deewanapan hai’ was judged as the best in terms of its lyrics – evidence: Shailendra, the engenderer of the words, won the Best Lyricist Award at the 6th Filmfare Awards. The extremely melodious number is sung by Mukesh and on screen; Dilip Kumar does more than what the word justice can entail to it.

Hum aaj kahin dil kho baithe

The 1949 film ‘Andaz’ boasts of this indescribable number, ‘Hum aaj kahin dil kho baithe’. The music was provided by Naushad and the number was sung by Mukesh. Dilip Kumar’s presence on screen left no stone unturned in immortalising the song.

Aye mere dil kahin aur chal

Composed by the music director-duo Shankar-Jaikishen, ‘Aye mere dil kahin aur chal’ is another musical masterpiece. The lyrics of the song were penned by Shailendra and Talat Mehmood’s is the voice; the song featured in the 1952 film ‘Daag’. Dilip Kumar, yet again, is in his element here.

Madhuban mein Radhika nachey re

Mohammed Rafi’s pristine voice coupled with Naushad’s immortal music and Shakeel Badayuni’s poetry. ‘Madhuban mein Radhika nachey re’ is a part of ‘Kohinoor’, one of the lighter films that Dilip Kumar had acted in. The song is utterly melodious, and is among Dilip Kumar’s most famous ones.

Meri kahaani bhoolnewale

‘Meri kahaani bhoolnewale’, the song from the 1951 classic ‘Deedar’, is another one which has been eternalised by Dilip Kumar. The number was composed by the legendary Naushad and sung by Mohammad Rafi.

Yahan badla wafa ka

The song ‘Yahan badla wafa ka’ featured in the 1947 film ‘Jugnu’, Dilip Kumar’s first major hit, with which the superstar cemented his position as a bankable actor in the industry. This number from the film was composed by Firoz Nizami.
