Rasgulla

This mouth-watering traditional Bengali recipe is the king of all sweets in India. Cottage cheese is thoroughly mixed to make dough. Balls made of the cottage cheese dough are cooked in sugar syrup. Many love to them when hot while the rest love it to have when chilled.

Kaju Barfi

Kaju Barfi is an exotic dessert of Indian-origin. Made of cashews, this kind of barfi is garnished with a fine layer of edible silver foil. Whether, it’s Diwali, a wedding function or any other auspicious occasion, kaju barfi will certainly find a mention in the menu. It is quite an expensive recipe but the most preferred sweet to be given as gift in India.

Kalakand

Made of sweetened milk and cottage cheese, Kalakand is a famous sweet recipe prepared mostly in the states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. It is widely prepared during Janamashtami and Rakshabandhan and it is also considered a special sweet-dish during saawan (monsoon season).

Khoya Barfi

Khoya Barfi is one of the most commonly available sweet recipes in India. This popular recipe is made of whole milk, powdered sugar, ghee, pistachio, and cardamom powder and silver paper for decoration. Gulkand (sweet preserve of rose petals) can also be added to give it a unique and scintillating aromatic flavor.

Gulab Jamun

This tasty dessert is the staple sweet-dish of India. It is made of khoya (thickened or reduced milk) balls , soaked in rose flavoured sugar syrup. Gulab Jamuns are reddish to dark brown in colour. Gulab jamun is often prepared during festivals and marriages. Almost all sweet-lovers relish eating gulab-jamuns.

Ras Malai

Ras Malais are sweet dumplings made of cottage or ricotta cheese soaked in sweetened, thickened milk delicately flavoured with cardamom. It is served chilled. It’s an ultimate sweet dish meant to be eaten in summers as it provides relief from the heat.

Gujia

Gujia is a special sweet-dish from the land of deserts, Rajasthan. The state of Uttar Pradesh is also famous for Gujias. The filling is made of sweetened khoya, maida- flour, semolina, coconut, nuts and almonds. It is mainly associated with the festival of Holi.

Shrikhand

Shrikhand is a sweet dish made of strained yogurt. It is an important dessert of Gujarati and Maharashtrian cuisine. Preparation of this dish is very simple but time consuming, since yogurt has to be processed properly. It has a tantalizing taste with sweet aroma. Addition of saffron and pistachio make it a yummy temptation.

Sandesh

Sandesh is the staple sweet-dish of the Bengalis. No Bengali meal is complete without Sandesh. It is surprisingly easy to make. Almonds, pistachios cut into slivers, few saffron strands are also added in order to make it taste even better.
