Schools are shut down due to the soaring temperature and what better way to cool yourself than watching a movie? Here’s a list of 5 movies you can forward to this summer, that will help you beat the heat:
Fukrey
Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba of ‘Teen Thee Bhai’ fame doesn’t have star value but does look quite promising. Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, the movie revolves around four friends — Hunny (Pulkit Samrat), Zafar (Ali Fazal), Choocha ( Varun Sharma) and Lali (Manjot Singh). The four fun-loving college students want to make it big in life and don`t mind adopting shortcuts for achieving their goals. Going by the trailer of the movie, ‘Fukrey’ looks like a fun watch and has a fresh feel to it, which will undoubtedly appeal to the youngsters. The songs of the movie – especially ‘Ambarsariya’ by Sona Mahapatra – have already started topping the charts. The movie is slated to release on June 14.
Raanjhanaa
Directed by Anand L. Rai, the movie revolves around a boy who is in love with a girl since his teenage. Starring ‘Kolaveri di’ fame Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor, the movie has been shot in the beautiful and religious backdrop of Varanasi. With music by Oscar award winner AR Rahman, the movie also stars Abhay Deol. One thing you can surely expect out of the movie is the undying love of Kundan (Dhanush) for Zoya (Sonam Kapoor) and out-of-this-world music. The movie will hit theaters on June 21.
Ghanchakkar
Probably one of the most unconventional looking films so far, ‘Ghanchakkar’ stars Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi in never-seen-before avatars. After setting the screen ablaze in ‘The Dirty Picture’ the duo will be seen playing husband and wife in this comedy thriller by Rajkumar Gupta. The look, feel, songs and Vidya Balan’s disastrous costumes make it worth waiting for. The movie will wow the audiences on June 28.
Lootera
Directed by Vikramditya Motwane, this period film has been shot mostly in the old world charm of Dalhousie and Kolkata. Starring Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh, the movie is partly based on O’Henry’s short story ‘The Last Leaf’. Ranveer Singh – who has come across as a flamboyant youngster in films till date – will be seen playing an archaeologist who falls in love with Pakhi (Sonakshi Sinha). This romance drama about heartbreak, betrayal and ultimate redemption will make this movie a must watch. The movie is slated to release on July 5.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
This biopic based on the life of ‘The Flying Sikh’ Milkha Singh, stars Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor and has been directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The movie is said to be named after the last words spoken by the athlete’s father. The story revolves around Milkha Singh’s perseverance as an athlete and his courageous human spirit. The movie will hit theatres on July 12.
